Pakistan Britain Business Council Appoints New Chairman, Mr. John Tucknott CMG MBE 16 September 2024 – The Pakistan Britain Business Council (PBBC) is delighted to announce the  appointment of Mr. John Tucknott CMG MBE as its new Chairman, effective from 12 September 2024. Mr. Tucknott brings with him over 40 years of distinguished service with the UK’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office. His extensive experience includes significant work in Pakistan, where he served as British Deputy High Commissioner (based in Karachi), Director of Trade and Investment, and UK Trade Champion from 2013 to 2016. In addition, Mr. Tucknott’s illustrious career has seen him serve as British Ambassador to Nepal and hold senior diplomatic roles in Lebanon, Sweden, the UK Mission to the United Nations in New York, and Iraq, where he was Deputy Ambassador from 2017 to 2020.

Following his retirement from HM Diplomatic Service in 2021, Mr. Tucknott was appointed Chair of the Founding Board of The British University of Iraq. In this capacity, he has worked closely with UK Education in Iraq, focusing on expanding access to UK educational qualifications, including English Language Training, ICT skills, Further Education, and Higher Education across the country. 

As the newly appointed Chairman of PBBC, Mr. Tucknott is committed to further strengthening the already robust relationship between the UK and Pakistan. His vision is to foster collaboration between PBBC members and stakeholders to stimulate economic activity in both traditional and emerging sectors, promoting growth in both countries.

The enduring relationship between the UK and Pakistan, built on strong political engagement, solid trade and investment, people-to-people connections, and mutual respect, is something Mr. Tucknott is keen to advance.

PBBC would also like to express its deepest gratitude to the outgoing Chairman, Mr. Julian Hamilton Barns, who has served the organization with dedication and foresight since September 2016. Under his leadership, PBBC has significantly grown its influence and deepened bilateral trade ties between the UK and Pakistan. Mr. Barns will continue to be associated with PBBC in an advisory role on the PBBC Advisory Board, where he will focus on key development projects.

PBBC to lead British Trade Mission to Pakistan from May 27 to June 2, 2024
LONDON: British Trade Mission to Pakistan at the behest of the Trade and Investment Minister as the Pakistan High Commission in London, the Pakistan Britain Business Council (PBBC) will lead a delegation of UK companies to Pakistan from May 27 to June 2, 2024, focusing on the travel, tourism and hospitality industries.
The delegates will participate in Pakistan's inaugural Travel and Tourism Symposium in Islamabad from 27 to 28 May, with the Prime Minister of Pakistan as the Chief Guest. Themed "Building the Tourism Economy through Green Investments", the symposium is organized by the Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) with support from World Bank Group (WBG).
Saudi Airlines And The Pakistan Britain Business Council (PBBC) Are Soon To Join Forces

London (News Desk) Saudi Airlines and the Pakistan Britain Business Council (PBBC) are soon to join forces! Following a productive 3-hour meeting, both organisations have agreed to collaborate in fostering a shared understanding aimed at achieving measurable outcomes beneficial to businesses in the UK, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia. PBBC members and affiliates will enjoy exclusive privileges aimed at enhancing export growth. Additionally, both parties are also in discussion to introduce a special air cargo service for Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG), aiming to streamline trade facilitation among the three countries. The meeting was spearheaded by Saudi Airlines’ officials, Frank Valle and Saeed Nazimi, along with the Pakistan Britain Business Council (PBBC) CEO, Rashid Iqbal.
