Pakistan Britain Business Council Appoints New Chairman, Mr. John Tucknott CMG MBE
16 September 2024 – The Pakistan Britain Business Council (PBBC) is delighted to announce the appointment of Mr. John Tucknott CMG MBE as its new Chairman, effective from 12 September 2024. Mr. Tucknott brings with him over 40 years of distinguished service with the UK’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office. His extensive experience includes significant work in Pakistan, where he served as British Deputy High Commissioner (based in Karachi), Director of Trade and Investment, and UK Trade Champion from 2013 to 2016. In addition, Mr. Tucknott’s illustrious career has seen him serve as British Ambassador to Nepal and hold senior diplomatic roles in Lebanon, Sweden, the UK Mission to the United Nations in New York, and Iraq, where he was Deputy Ambassador from 2017 to 2020.
Following his retirement from HM Diplomatic Service in 2021, Mr. Tucknott was appointed Chair of the Founding Board of The British University of Iraq. In this capacity, he has worked closely with UK Education in Iraq, focusing on expanding access to UK educational qualifications, including English Language Training, ICT skills, Further Education, and Higher Education across the country.
As the newly appointed Chairman of PBBC, Mr. Tucknott is committed to further strengthening the already robust relationship between the UK and Pakistan. His vision is to foster collaboration between PBBC members and stakeholders to stimulate economic activity in both traditional and emerging sectors, promoting growth in both countries.
The enduring relationship between the UK and Pakistan, built on strong political engagement, solid trade and investment, people-to-people connections, and mutual respect, is something Mr. Tucknott is keen to advance.
